Kirara is a comprehensive software application, capable of creating video clips (e.g. AVI, 3GP, MOV, MKV, FLV) from various file types, such as 3G2, MKV, MOV, MPG and RM. But it can also extract the audio stream and save it to MP2, MP3, WMA, OGG, AC3 and others. It chiefly targets advanced users.
The interface of the application does not strive in the visual or organizational department, since the layout is cluttered with many options. Once you get the hang of it, you shouldn't have any problems in performing a conversion procedure.
Loading videos into the working environment is possible with the help of either the file browser or "drag and drop" function. Processing multiple items at once is allowed, so you can convert as many clips as you want.
Experienced users are free to tinker with a wide range of audio and video settings when it comes to the codec, bit rate, channel mode, sample rate, key frame, frame rate, image size, and others. It is also possible to create new presets, as well as to prepare videos for Android, Apple, Samsung, Sony and other devices.
In addition, you can limit the file size and encode items based on this factor, remove metadata and chapters to occupy less space on the hard disk, as well as establish a filename prefix and extension. Settings can be restored to their factory values.
Other features of Kirara let you specify the thread number, use an experimental decoding codec, switch to a different language for the UI, as well as minimize the app to the system tray area.
Kirara requires a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, takes a decent amount of time to finish a conversion job and supports a few hotkeys. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests and the utility did not hang or crash. Thanks to its wide range of advanced settings, power users should be pleased by Kirara.
