Hide Computer is a very lightweight utility that was especially designed to provide you with a means of making your PC invisible on the network.
Those who know the direct path to shared files will still be able to access them, but your computer will no longer appear in Network Neighborhood or in similar LAN browsing utilities.
Please note that the changes do not occur instantly, as the program requires a restart to make the modifications come into effect. Also, it may take a while for the change to propagate throughout the entire network you are currently connected to.
