wPrime is a benchmarking application designed to use a highly multithreaded approach to calculae the square-roots of large amounts of numbers, thus testing the CPU.
wPrime uses a recursive call of Newton's method for estimating functions, with f(x)=x2-k, where k is the number we're sqrting, until Sgn(f(x)/f'(x)) does not equal that of the previous iteration, starting with an estimation of k/2. .
It then uses an iterative calling of the estimation method a set amount of times to increase the accuracy of the results. It then confirms that n(k)2=k to ensure the calculation was correct. It repeats this for all numbers from 1 to the requested maximum.
wPrime retreives most hardware information thanks to CPUz. It retreives CPU information such as clock speed, code name, cache size, voltage, etc. It retreives the motherboard model and the amount, speed and timings of your memory.
When scores are submitted to the hwbot with CPUz installed, it will send this extra hardware information to our server to provide more detailed hardware specs to the scores when viewed on hwbot.
