BurnInTest Professional is a comprehensive utility developed for power users who want to benchmark the hardware stability and reliability of their operating system. It offers support for CPU, RAM, 2D and 3D graphics, and other components.
The interface is user-friendly and intuitive. You can view general system information and details on the CPU, memory, graphics, disk volume and drives, optical drives, network, and ports.
Tests can be run with the current or last loaded configuration, or you can make adjustments for the duty cycles when it comes to the CPU, optical drive, printer, RAM, COM ports, tape, video, plugins, 2D and 3D graphics, disks, sound, network, parallel port, and USB.
It is possible to create scripts for repetitive benchmarks, as well as to test the maximum CPU temperature, CPU coverage, RAM, 2D graphics (memory), 3D graphics, and local or removable disks.
BurnInTest results show the test name, cycles, operations, errors, and last error description, along with a graphical representation of minimum and maximum temperature monitoring values. The report can be exported to LOG or HTM format for further scrutiny, while the current window can be saved to EMF, GIF or BMP images.
For each hardware component you can make tweak settings, such as selecting video playback files, network test mode, and post-task action on failed or passed tests (e.g. exit and reboot PC, stop tests and print results).
BurnInTest Professional may be installed on a USB flash disk from the File menu, in order to easily run benchmarks on any machine. There is also a standard edition available, but it offers less features. For example, it does not support unpartitioned disk testing, plugin tests, CPU affinity selection, advanced RAM testing, or testing preferences.
All in all, BurnInTest Professional is an excellent addition to any serious user's utility belt for benchmarking hardware capabilities, backed up by intuitive options and interface.
