FurMark 1.11.0 description
FurMark is a compact video card testing utility that allows you to compare you GPU performance with other computers or with an older component that you have replaced. Like the name suggests, the program is designed to use fur rendering algorithms to stress your graphics card and measure its performance.
The program falls into the category of GPU burners so it will overheat your graphics card while performing the tests. While the test is running you might experience system instability so it is recommended to use it only if you have all the drivers installed and the system is optimally configured.
FurMark allows you to configure the benchmark settings such as running in full screen or windowed mode or choosing the resolution of the fur rendering image and the anti-aliasing mode. For the advanced users that like to overclock their computers the application features a burn-in test mode that pushes the GPU to the peak performance.
The user can also monitor the temperature during the test, receive an alert when it reaches a critical level and record the levels throughout the benchmark test. These details are very useful to compare different GPU settings and choose the best combination that balances performance with power consumption and temperature.
After the test the application will display a report with the test settings, the hardware and software information of the computer (CPU, GPU, OS and drivers) and the general score that was awarded to the graphics card.
You can submit your score online and compare it with other users. If you want to upgrade or overclock your GPU it is a good way to find out some useful information. To provide the users with comparable results only two presets can be uploaded to the developer's server.
The application also features a graphics card monitoring tool (GPU-Z) that provides you with advanced information about the GPU (type, technology, memory type and clock values) and the GPU sensors. Both types of information can be saved to a TXT file for later use.
FurMark can be used by overclocking enthusiasts but also by average computer users. The interface is rather simple and the rating is simple to read or compare.
