Software Ideas Modeler Portable is a professional software application designed to help users create UML, JSD and other diagram types, usually used in the field of software engineering.
Since this is the portable version of the program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to design different diagrams from scratch.
Although Software Ideas Modeler Portable comes packed with many dedicated parameters for carrying out the designing process, the user interface is clean and its functions are neatly organized in the primary panel.
A new project can be created in terms of name, authors, description and filename, and you may also activate the encryption feature by setting up passwords. Thanks to its multi-tabbed support, you can work with multiple diagrams in the same time.
There are various diagram types to choose from, namely UML (e.g. class, package, deployment, timing, composite structure), JSD (entity structure and network diagrams), as well as others (e.g. flowchart, hierarchical task analysis, concurrency).
What’s more, the application bundles several dedicated tools for customizing the layout of the diagrams, namely pan, constraint, package, line, text, image, and others.
It is possible to insert different objects into the project by simply dragging and dropping them in the workspace. The diagrams can be customized by applying multiple layers and tag values, specifying general details (name, modifiers), picking a style, writing documentation, creating a to-do-list, as well as working in a fast editing pane.
Plus, you can preview all the adjustment applied to the diagrams in a dedicated dialog. The projects can be exported to different image files (e.g. PNG, JPG, GIF) or PDF.
Overall, Software Ideas Modeler Portable offers many useful features for helping users design different diagrams with ease. The creation process in intuitive, but since it bundles a multitude of configurable settings, you can check the online tutorials to make the most out of every single built-in feature.
