If you have no idea what Adobe Fireworks is, then you're probably not a web designer. Otherwise, welcome to Adobe Fireworks CS5 - the most stable version of Fireworks that doesn't plan to reinvent the wheel, but improve it.
Fireworks CS5 is a graphic editor that was specially designed to create, modify and improve the performance of web pages.
It is a complex program, so don't expect the CPU usage to be kind to your computer.
The installation process is fairly long, and it requires your attention a lot, but as soon as it completes, you will see Fireworks CS5 in all its glory (the user interface is very attractive, from the technical point of view).
This edition doesn't bring much to the table, as we have stated before, but chooses to fix previously found bugs.
You still have access to the well-known important features, such as compound shapes and stroke alignment, but there are also minor improvements. For instance, a rectangle's aspect ratio can be constrained and snapped to the nearest pixel in order to avoid anti-aliasing.
But we bet you would like to discover Fireworks CS5 by yourself. And if you're new to this environment, that's also ok. There are tons of "Getting Started" tutorials (let alone guidelines for expert users) given by highly trained web designers, which are very long, but accurate and easy to follow.
So, if you plan on designing or editing the visual contents of a web page in the easiest possible way, you can rely on the stability of Adobe Fireworks CS5.
