Developed for the Google Desktop platform, Camera Viewer is a lightweight and simple-to-use gadget which allows you to view any public camera from the world, based on its IP address. It can be easily installed and configured, even by inexperienced users.
The interface of the program is based on a standard frame where you can view the webcam name and local time on top of the image sequence.
By opening the context-menu, you can go to the 'Options' screen, in order to enter the IP or URL of the camera you want to view, along with the refresh rate and resolution. Plus, you can flip the image if it's upside down.
Thanks to the default options provided by Google Desktop, you may also collapse or hide the frame, undock it from the sidebar in order to move it to any position on the screen with the help of the mouse cursor, make it stay on top of other windows, as well as zoom in and out.
The tool is not a concern for the computer's resources, since it requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory. It is very responsive to commands, and the image quality is quite good. No error dialogs have been displayed during our testing and Camera Viewer did not freeze or crash. Thanks to its overall simplicity, first-time users can easily figure out how to work with this gadget. No recent updates have been made.
