Digital Media Converter is an application that lets you encode media files of various formats, including ASF, AVI, MP3, OGG and WAV.
The user interface of the program is plain and simple. You can add files to the queue by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" method (batch conversions are supported).
In the list you can view the duration, video and audio properties, selected range, output path and status for each source file.
So, once you have selected the video format, you can configure settings (e.g. video compressor, frame rate, bitrate dimension, audio compressor, frequency, bitrate, channels), rename the output name (via the context menu) and initiate the conversion process.
In addition, you can add effects to the selected media files (e.g. brightness, contrast, gamma, grayscale, invert colors, mirror image, volume level), split them into smaller pieces, repair an audio or video file, as well as rip an audio CD.
Furthermore, you can export MP4 files to a PSP device and configure general conversion settings (e.g. force audio and video synchronization, select output file location), set proxy details and change advanced options (e.g. set temporary working folder, reset warning dialogs).
The program uses a moderate amount of system resources, contains a well-drawn help file and manages to finish a task in a short amount of time while keeping a good image and sound quality.
The bottom line is that Digital Media Converter is a very good tool for encoding audio and video files. It's unfortunate that the demo version has some harsh limitations. Otherwise, we recommend Digital Media Converter to all users.
