Shutter is a program that gives you access to several power management controls.
The user interface of the application consists of a small, standard window. Shutter can be used by both novices and experienced individuals.
So, you can select an event and configure it, between "Countdown", "On Time", "Winamp Stops" (check every given number of seconds), "Low CPU Usage" (below a percentage and for a specified time).
Furthermore, you can select "User Inactive", "Battery Low" (below a defined percentage), "Window Closes" (for any open application), "Process Stops", "Ping Stops" (set URL and time) and "File Size Limit".
In addition, you can opt for a power management feature between shutdown, reboot, log off, lock workstation, sleep, hibernate, hang up, turn off monitor, mute or unmute master volume and alarm (or don't set any action at all).
In the "Options" menu, you can set Shutter to always be on top of other application, automatically run at system startup, close itself after an event has been triggered, force applications to close, display a message (that you can input), run a program, play a sound, and more.
The software takes up a very low amount of system CPU and memory. No help file is available but Shutter is simple enough to understand. We haven't come across any problems during our tests and strongly recommend Shutter to all users.
