Keeping an eye on the state of the hardware components of your computer can be just as helpful as keeping a clean operating system. HDD Guardian is a small utility that can alert you in case of imminent failures, so you can take the time to create a complete backup of the data.
The program has a simple interface that should be quite easy to handle, thanks to the intuitive layout.
Thus, the tool provides several details regarding the hard drive, such as the device model, serial number, capacity and interface. The S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) attributes can be viewed as well, such as the raw read error rate, spin up time, power on hours, temperature (Celsius or Fahrenheit) and runtime bad block, to name just a few.
HDD Guardian can run a test for you and provide an overall appraisal of the state of your hard drive. Once it analyzes all the data, you may view the sectors where there are potential problems. As mentioned, it can also let you know ahead of time if there’s an imminent failure on the way, when temperatures exceed the threshold or when there are changes to the monitored parameters.
The bottom line is that HDD Guardian is a great tool that can keep an eye on your computer. Less experienced individuals shouldn’t have any troubles working with this program, thanks to its overall simplicity.
