And further, because we never store your password or the plaintext version of your encryption keys, no one but you will ever have access to the folders and files you store with SpiderOak including our staff. The only information we will ever know is how much data you are storing.

This is precisely why we don't charge and, in fact, encourage you to download the application on as many computers as you need to feel completely protected. And there are never bandwidth restrictions or access limitations.

After researching the online back up, storage, and sharing industry, we were disappointed with both the technology and orientation of the product offerings. We believe that whatever you back up and store on your SpiderOak Network should be for your eyes only. As a result, SpiderOak uses the most advanced method of protecting your data available. First, we use a series of encryption algorithms embedded throughout the software to keep your data secure. Second, we don't store your password or the plaintext of your encryption keys so at NO point can your data ever be exposed to anyone but you. It is what we call a true 'zero-knowledge environment' and it guarantees the most privacy available on the Internet.

SpiderOak automatically recognizes any new and/or edited photo, document, song, or movie and backs it up in real time without you ever having to think, wonder or worry. This automated system works quietly in the background - never slowing down applications or Internet connections.

This is a significantly different and enhanced approach to ensure your data is always kept secure.
