dotConnect for PostgreSQL Professional is a data provider to direct access to PostgreSQL database for the Microsoft .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework. It completely based on ActiveX Data Objects for the .NET Framework (ADO.NET) technology.
ADO.NET provides a rich set of components for creating distributed, data-sharing applications. It is an integral part of the .NET Framework, providing access to relational data, XML, and application data.
dotConnect for PostgreSQL Professinal can be used in the same way as the SQL Server .NET or the OLE DB .NET Data Provider.
dotConnect for PostgreSQL Professional will allow users to build fast and lightweight applications working with PostgreSQL.
dotConnect for PostgreSQL Professional supports PostgreSQL server since 7.1 version to 8.0. The provider works with .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and .NET Compact Framework, and can be used with the following development environments:
· Microsoft Visual Studio .NET
· Borland Delphi 2005, Delphi 8
· Borland C#Builder
dotConnect for PostgreSQL Professional can be used together with UniDirect .NET, data provider that provides universal access to different databases within a single code.

· The "Default FetchAll" connection string parameter for defining default value of the FetchAll property of PgSqlCommand objects created on the connection is implemented
· The possibility of specifying negative large object OIDs via interface of the PgSqlLargeObject class is implemented
· The support of asynchronous backing up and restoring for PgSqlDump is implemented
· The bug with executing prepared statements via pgPool II is fixed
· The bug related to the "Unexpected server response" exception on ExecuteReader method when using it in cycle with Cancel method is fixed
· The bug with compatibility of Devart.Data.PostgreSql.Web.dll for .NET Framework 2 and 4 in Visual Studio 2010, that is automatically added to the project when adding the PgSqlDataSource component to the web form, is fixed
