This is the portable edition of Aegisub - a feature-rich software utility designed for editing subtitle files. It offers support for a multitude of formats, including SSA, MKV, SUB, SRT and TXT.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can extract the program files to any spot on the hard drive to run the executable file.
Alternatively, you can save Aegisub to a USB flash drive or other similar device, in order to run it on another computer effortlessly.
Aside from the fact that files do not remain on the hard drive after removing the program, the Windows Registry does not receive entry updates, reducing the risk of system errors.
The interface of the application is user-friendly. Subtitles can be loaded into the working environment by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method. 
Editing each line of the subtitle, adjusting the start and end time, duration or position is seamlessly accomplished, as Aegisub provides a workspace similar to the one of a standard word processing application. It is also possible to add actor names for references, along with effects for karaoke scripts.
The program integrates a wide range of options, whether you want to manage styles, use a styling or translation assistant tool, check the spelling, change the resample resolution, as well as insert or duplicate lines. Other features of Aegisub let you shift times, import audio and video files in order to edit the corresponding subtitle file with greater accuracy, and so on.
Aegisub offers support for hotkeys and multiple languages, includes a backup service and gives you the possibility of customizing GUI colors. It requires a moderate quantity of CPU and system resources. 
Less experienced users can look into a well-drawn help file to get a better idea on how to work with Aegisub. We have not experienced any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. 
To sum it up, Aegisub comes packed with plenty of options and configuration settings which are appealing to advanced users, while rookies should be pleased by the intuitive environment and program documentation.
