Portable ShellExView is a very lightweight piece of software that scans your computer for shell extensions and shows important information about every single item.
You shouldn't underestimate the program because it really provides a great amount of details.
And the main window is the living proof: it displays all shell extensions, along with information such as type, description, version, product name, company, file attributes, size and .NET extension.
Right-clicking any of the displayed items lets you search Google for additional information, but also generate HTML reports or enable/disable them on the go.
There are only a few options to play with, but you can still filter the results by extension type, ask before any action, mark disabled items, non-Microsoft extensions or suspicious shell extensions, add header line to CSV/tab-delimited file, show time in GTM or send the icon to Tray.
Portable ShellExView doesn't hamper system performance and that's a very good thing, which means that Portable ShellExView can be loaded on any Windows version out there.
Furthermore, it's a portable app, so users can always copy all its files to a removable drive and use it on the go without the need for prior installation.
All things considered, Portable ShellExView is clearly a handy piece of software and it's no doubt that professional users shall find it one of the best apps in its software category. It doesn't hamper system performance and provides a comprehensive view over the installed shell extensions.
