Portable Scribus 1.4.3 description
This is the portable edition of Scribus, a software tool which allows you to organize and enhance your documents in a user-friendly environment.
It is similar to Adobe Pagemaker, so you can use it for building business-related presentations and newsletters, for instance.
Since installation is not a requirement, you can place Scribus on a USB flash drive or any other removable device, save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.
Therefore, you can carry Scribus with you whenever you're on the go. More importantly, no leftover files can be found in the Windows Registry or on the hard drive after program removal.
Scribus is packed in a clean interface with adequate tools for skilled users, although it does not dismiss less experienced individuals. You can start a new project from scratch or create a new document from templates (e.g. brochures, business cards, PDF presentation, posters).
The first option allows you to customize document settings when it comes to the margin guides, bleeds, size, orientation and number of pages, just to name a few. Scribus includes a wide range of features to tinker with, such as text, image and render frames, shapes, tables, freehand lines, glyphs, characters, quotes and barcodes.
Additionally, you can manage images, hyphenate text, generate tables of content, generate scripts, configure a color wheel, import pages and manage guides, as well as use the undo and redo functions, just to name a few.
Scribus supports multiple languages, themes and keyboard shortcuts for the GUI, includes user documentation and worked smoothly during our testing. Since the app requires a high amount of CPU and system memory, it may take a while for the environment to load at startup. All in all, Scribus provides an excellent solution for creating and managing professional-looking documents.
