This is the portable edition of JPhotoTagger - a feature-rich software application designed for viewing and managing photographs. It comprises options that mainly cater to power users.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can simply drop the program files to any location on the hard disk and run the JAR item immediately.
It is also possible to move JPhotoTagger to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation with minimum effort, provided that it has Java installed.
An important aspect to mention is that the Windows registry does not get new entries, and no files are left behind on the hard disk after program removal.
The interface of the application is divided into multiple panels. You can get started by specifying the folders to scan for images, as well as by using the Explorer-based folder structure to navigate directories and select images.
The main panel shows the thumbnail for each image in the current location. You can filter items by file type (e.g. JPEG, TIFF, RAW, without metadata) and sort them by various criteria (e.g. file path ascending order).
JPhotoTagger doesn't come equipped with a built-in image viewer, so you have to use an external application instead. However, you can rotate thumbnails, manage plugins (e.g. Flickr Upload, HTML report), give ratings, copy metadata, create photo albums, and perform file operations (e.g. copy, move).
It is possible to view EXIF and IPTC information, import images from another source, export data, use an advanced search function (keyword combination, simple or custom SQL), locate duplicate images, and others.
JPhotoTagger uses a pretty high quantity of CPU and RAM. But it has a good response time and performed well throughout our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, the app's interface is not very intuitive, making it more difficult for less experienced users to move around the layout and perform actions.

What's New in This Release:
· New option when renaming files: "Date and Time taken" (F2 when thumbnails are selected). Time includes hours, minutes and seconds.
