nPOPuk's development was based on nPOP, a program originally created by Tomoaki Nakashima.
The new nPOPuk offers a dramatically expanded feature set, but the data files are not backwards-compatible with the original nPOP. This accounts for the decision to change the name. nPOPuk was chosen as it was programmed and compiled by a group co-ordinated from the UK.
The Global Options dialogue controls overall program behaviour, e.g.:
· How much of the mail items to retrieve from the server
· Whether to save data locally
· Settings for message replies
· Connection/Disconnection Settings
· Audible and Visual Warnings on arrival or mail
· Password Access to the Main Window
· Sorting of mail items in the Main Window
