This is the portable edition of Back4Sure - a tool which comprises plenty of useful features for facilitating a backup service. It covers documents, pictures, music, movies and other important data.
As there is no setup pack included, the program files can be dropped to any spot on the hard drive, so you can run the executable immediately. Otherwise, Back4Sure can be placed on a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, in order to run the app on any computer seamlessly.
The interface of the utility is based on a standard window with a plain and intuitive layout, where you can create backup jobs.
It is required to write a job description and select the volumes and/or directories you want to include in the backup. As far as export settings go, you can establish the target location (e.g. fixed drive or directory, drive determined by label).
For the target subdirectories you can use the drive letter with a custom prefix, full path but without the drive subdirectory, or path beginning below the highest common directory.
Furthermore, Back4Sure lets you create a list of included or excluded default filters or filters for the selected directory, configure compression settings (e.g. default file name, archive format, password), set up the cleanup mode (e.g. all files that don't match the current backup job), enable confirmations, schedule actions before or after the backup is executed, as well as view log details. The backup job can be saved to file for further projects, and you can verify the job consistency.
The program is very light on the system resources, has a good response time and finishes a backup job rapidly and error-free. We have not encountered any difficulties throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang or crash. Thanks to its rich features, yet intuitive layout, Back4Sure should please the entire audience.
