This is the portable version of Wavosaur, a small utility designed to help you edit audio tracks. It supports a few file types, including MP3, WAV, AIF and OGG.
Since installation is not required, you can store the app on an external device (like a USB flash drive), save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.
Thus, you can always have Wavosaur with you when you're on the move. More importantly, no updates are made to the Windows Registry and no files are left behind after program removal.
The interface of the program is user-friendly. Loading an audio track can be done by using either the file browser or 'drag and drop' function.
So, you can cut, copy or delete a selection, preview songs in a built-in audio player, change the output volume, as well as zoom in and out. But you can also reverse or flip the song, swap channels, convert the channels to mono or stereo mode, resample the file, convert the bit depth, apply a fade in and out effect, remove vocals, insert silence and normalize the volume.
On top of that, you can apply a high performance filter, lock volume points, analyze the spectrum, snap a selection to zero crossing, enable loop mode, import binary and text files, as well as use the undo function. From the 'Options' menu, you can select the audio input and output device, set paths to the VST, SOR file, sound and skin, as well as set Wavosaur to maximize the main application window at startup, among others.
The audio processing tool requires a very high amount of system resources, has a good response time, supports keyboard shortcuts and includes user documentation. We have not come across any issues during our tests; Wavosaur did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. Due to its advanced features, the app can be mainly used by experienced users.
