SmartWhois is an advanced Windows application designed to retrieve information about any IP address, domain or hostname, using your Internet connection to serve its purpose.
At the first launch you shall discover a pretty clean and well-organized interface, so it’s pretty difficult to get lost in there. Everything’s fairly intuitive, but a help manual is also available, just in case you need assistance.
Besides the fact that it can look up the available information on a given IP, the application also allows you to save the results and thus create your very own database that can be easily accessed online.
Additionally, SmartWhois supports batch processing as well, which means it can check multiple domains at the same time, showing you information such as country, contact details, owner and other details.
While also offering SOCKS5 firewall support, SmartWhois offers Microsoft Outlook integration, which means it can look up email headers automatically, as soon as a new message lands in your inbox.
The settings screen is quite large, so you may spend a few minutes configuring the program. This is the place where you can find options concerning integration, hotkeys, ping and proxy servers, caching, queries, fonts and colors and updates.
SmartWhois runs on a moderate amount of hardware resources, getting along quite well with all Windows versions.
All things considered, this is a very handy piece of software that provides a great amount of features packed into a clean and well-organized interface. It needs an Internet connection to serve its purpose, while the help manual makes sure you figure out how to use it no matter if you’re a beginner or not.
