Reading comic books saved in digital format should be a pleasant activity, but if the right tools are not available, it can turn into a hunt for software that can read one file type or another, since mangs and other comics may come in a variety of formats.
An application that is able to handle almost any type of document comics may be saved in is called ComicRack. Besides its reader functionality, this utility is also designed to provide some management features for the recognized files.
The program can open comics that come in CBZ, CBR, PDF, ZIP or RAR formats and it will give detailed information about each of them. You get loads of features including several zoom modes, automatic rotation of the screen, which is most useful for portable devices like tablet PCs and also full-screen mode, to name just a few.
With ComicRack you can assign your own, personal ratings to the loaded comics and create bookmarks for easier retrieving of favorite items. A magnification tool is available for those who wish to take a closer look at the loaded book and pages can also be exported with ease. Other functions you can find inside this software are auto scrolling and a built-in book file updater.
When it comes to the display configuration, ComicRack will allow you to adjust the saturation, brightness, contrast, gamma and sharpening, using the corresponding sliders you will find in the 'Preferences' menu.
Insofar as the book management is concerned, you can add a set of folders to be monitored for changes while ComicRack is up and running. The application is able to exclude from the library files that are missing during the scans. Also, if one or more books have been removed manually from the library, they will not be added after the scans complete.
To sum things up, ComicRack manages to offer a very good feature set and thanks to an intuitive interface, it is accessible for all types of users, advanced as well as less experienced.
