SmartCapture is an application that you can use to take screenshots in several methods.
The interface of the tool is user-friendly, although very plain. You can get started by selecting the capturing mode between window, rectangle and screen.
In addition, you can create a new profile by following some simple steps in a wizard. Firstly, you can select the image source (capture from screen, open a file, paste from clipboard, import from scanner, use the current image).
Secondly, you can choose the capture area between a rectangle, window, active window, screen, fixed size or a particular screen area.
Furthermore, you can enable to hide the SmartCapture window, include the mouse cursor, play sound, display dimensions and set the delay time, as well as change the color format and geometry (e.g. resize, rotate), adjust the brightness and contrast. Last but not least, you can specify the output destination for the screenshot, write a profile name and add a comment.
On top of that, you can run scripts if you are an advanced user, use the undo and redo functions, crop images, set the color mode and palette, zoom in and out, replace colors, view all text that's written in the clipboard, and more.
The program takes up a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, has a very good response time and didn't freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. On the other hand, there is no help file available and the interface could get upgraded, since it's outdated. Even so, we strongly recommend SmartCapture to all user levels.
