ExifTool 9.36 description
ExifTool is a command-line application built specifically for helping you read, write, and edit metadata information for images, audio and video files.
The program works with a wide range of file formats, namely 3GP, FLAC, MP3, MP4, GIF, MOV, FLV, AVI, SWF, MPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and others.
It offers support for batch processing, which means you can perform operations for multiple files at the same time.
ExifTool gives users the possibility to view the information included in their raw file’s metadata, rename items according with their creation date, move or copy files into folders by year and month, extract the preview image embedded in raw files, copy metadata from one file to another, and overwrite the original item.
Furthermore, the application enables you to extract or exclude the specified tags, write or copy tag values from files, and set the tag orientation.
Other important features worth mentioning allow users to read or write compressed information, preserve date and time stamps of the original file, set file processing order, process items with the specified extension, as well as execute multiple commands at the same time.
For those who are not familiar with performing operations in the command-line console, it is advisable to create backups before starting to make changes to their files.
During our testing we have noticed that the application carries out a task very quickly and without errors throughout the entire process.
All things considered, ExifTool comes packed with a complete suite of dedicated parameters for helping you manipulate metadata in a professional way.
