Yahoo! Mail for Windows 8 is an app designed for Windows 8 users who want to quickly access their Yahoo! email account from the desktop. It smoothly integrates into the operating system without any issues.
Some Windows 8 editions have this tool built into them, but it can also be separately downloaded as a standalone application.
The interface is divided into three panels, dedicated to selecting email locations (e.g. inbox, notes, conversations), viewing the subject, sender and date for each new email, as well as for reading content.
It is possible to open or save attachments to the hard disk, select multiple emails at once to organize a folder quicker, use continuous scroll to find messages, share images, movies and documents (with support for Flickr galleries), and use a search function.
Dragging the mouse cursor to the bottom part of the screen reveals a panel which enables you to mark messages as unread, spam or favorite (star), move them to another location, and delete them.
A few buttons on the upper right corner of the screen let you quickly create a new email, reply to the current one, delete messages, and more. Notifications for new emails pop up in the Windows 8 Start screen.
The tool is light on the system resources, using a minimal amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works smoothly, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, Yahoo! Mail for Windows 8 is a nice addition to any Windows 8 user.
