The email (electronic email) or the e-mail represents a system that allows a user the act as the sender of digital messages to a single or various recipients. It has been around long before the Internet itself, serving as the channel for information distribution within the defunct ARPANET and its trademark is the `at` (@) symbol that separates the local part from the domain name.
Although approximately 90% of email messages are spam and even contain viruses, statistics count more than 2 billion email users and over 200 billion messages sent on daily basis. At this rate, email users need, besides the webmail service, an email client software to manage their messages. Email clients provides users with access to their email mailbox alongside sending and receiving capabilities.
Amongst the popular choices of users worldwide such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Pegasus Mail, IncrediMail, The Bat! or IBM Lotus Notes, Foxmail's top ranking in the Softpedia `Email Clients` category may seem a bit odd. Being a Chinese application, the developer didn't see fit that the installation process or the starting language of the actual program should be English and opted for Chinese.
In order to switch the interface language to English, you have the choice of deleting the `Chinese.lgb` file from the installation directory or go to the last but one menu of the application, then the last sub-menu and select `English`. That being said and done, you can now assign your email account to the program. This particular process does not bring the difficulties of the last one and you will have your account set up in a matter of seconds.
Foxmail supports multiple email accounts to work simultaneously, thus providing you with all the email messages you receive and notifying you ever time this action occurs. It sports a friendly and well-organized GUI that incorporates three main vertical panels for quick overview of email messages, contents of the current email folder as well as the selected message.
The email client software also offers a calendar for scheduling your appointments and a RSS feed reader. It handles message composition with ease through its WYSIWYG method and allows you to create refined email filters. The application also supports Outlook messages, Exchange email accounts and mailbox encryption.
Foxmail works with any given email account and brings all the necessary tools to simplify the email management process. The only downside of the software revolves around the installation process that may be too much for some users that just don't want to guess their way to its completion and quickly go for some other program in its category.
