PDF2XL OCR is a feature-rich software program that enables you to create Excel-supported formats (e.g. XLS) from PDF files. But it also supports Word, PowerPoint, OpenOffice, CSV and HTML for the output.
The interface of the application is professional-looking and well-organized. Loading PDFs into the working environment can be done by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" function.
Before proceeding with the conversion procedure, you may be interested in modifying some aspects of the document. For instance, you can load layouts, change the field format to text, number, currency, data, time or image, as well as convert an object to a table.
Moreover, you can zoom in and out, navigate the pages, rotate the entire document, as well as pick the marking mode (by content, tables, fields, text), locate text and set the page structure (e.g. first page different, all pages same).
It is also possible to process the document in OCR mode (Optical Character Recognition), perform OCR validation on words and configure settings (e.g. validate only suspect words), mark titles, merge cells, use a table header, as well as customize preferences for conversion when it comes to the page range, table names, empty rows, add-ins, cell merging, file metadata, and so on.

PDF2XL OCR requires a high amount of CPU and system memory, has a fair response time and includes user documentation. No error dialogs have popped up during our tests and the utility did not hang or crash. Thanks to its wide range of customization options, PDF2XL OCR should please users with some experience in similar software, but rookies are also free to tinker with the program.
