Songbird 1.10 Build 2056 Beta 2 is created to bring you an impressive as well as smart media player which is capable of playing both video and audio files. Songbird has support for library, radio, podcast, network services and devices, music stores and web search.

Songbird makes a desktop media player called the Songbird Player. Qtrax licensed the Songbird Player, added the Qtrax brand, changed the look, and then integrated the Qtrax advertising supported music download service.

Major Features:

Media Playback:
- Songbird supports MP3, FLAC, and Vorbis on all platforms; WMA and WMA DRM on Windows; and AAC and Fairplay on Windows and Mac.
GStreamer:
- Songbird now uses GStreamer as main media playback system, across all platforms.
Media Importing:
- Add media to Songbird by importing from your file system or iTunes.
Smart Playlists:
- Create dynamic playlists that automatically update based on criteria you set.
Web Browser:
- Songbird includes an integrated web browser with features like bookmarking, tabbed browsing, and more.
Multi-language Support:
- Over 25 completed, community-contributed localizations and growing!
Setup Assistant:
- Quickly setup Songbird for the first time.
Custom UI:
- Make Songbird your own by choosing from dozens of different skins feathers.
Library Management:
- Browse, organize, sort and search your media.
Device Support:
- Songbird's device support is limited. The Device Support wiki has additional details about what's supported. Apple iPhones, iPod Touch and Microsoft Zune devices are not yet supported.
Metadata Management:
- Songbird supports reading from and writing metadata to many music file formats. They still need to support the ability to fetch additional metadata from popular lookup services.
Album Artwork:
- Display the currently playing track's album art and write new artwork back to the file. They still need to support album art fetching.
Performance & Stability:
- Improving the performance and stability of Songbird is an ongoing focus. Each release they set aside dedicated cycles to ensure they're making progress.

NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS
- Two-way synchronization between devices and the Songbird library
- Automatic organization of downloaded and ripped files into an Artist/Album filesystem hierarchy.
- The PlaylistCommandsBuilders interface has been deprecated. Add-on developers should use the new playlistcommands interface (documentation forthcoming -- see bug 23893).
BUGS FIXED SINCE 1.10.0b1
- An over-capacity sync operation may cause an application crash. ( bug 21746)
- Songbird may crash while mounting a device. ( bug 23780)
- The drop-down menus that determine how files are organized on a device are empty. ( bug 23429)
- Transfer operations to MTP devices may report errors despite succeeding. ( bug 23725)
- Songbird will sync empty playlists to devices. ( bug 23731)
- Sync operations may not transfer any tracks to a device if a previous sync attempt was cancelled. ( bug 23740, bug 23801)
- A playlist may be duplicated on a device if it is transferred to the device multiple times through drag and drop. ( bug 23767)
- It is possible to create duplicate items in the main library by editing metadata and then dragging tracks from the device to the main library. ( bug 23771)
- If a user attemps to transfer more tracks to a device than the device can hold, and that transfer attempt represented a subset of the user's library, Songbird will fill the device with a random selection of tracks from the entire music library instead of a random selection from the initial subset. ( bug 23783)
- Files transferred to a device may be zero-length and unplayable. ( bug 23814)
- The right-click menu option to import tracks from a device to the Songbird library does not work. ( bug 23815)
- Songbird may crash upon quitting or disconnecting a device. ( bug 23859)
- Device playlists may not update correctly after tracks are removed from the source playlist in the main library. ( bug 23888)
- Downloaded tracks are saved without a file extension and are unplayable. ( bug 23839)
- Importing from an iTunes library in the first run wizard will also cause music from the default Music folder to be imported. ( bug 23879)
- Blank lines may appear in the main library after sorting items by track number when those items also contain disc number information. ( bug 23384)
- The dialog that appears for users who had Media Management enabled is poorly formatted and points to a nonexistent web page. ( bug 23299)
